Dear FGCS Families - Please help us maintain good relations with our
downtown neighbors and keep our children safe by observing the
following rules for visiting FGCS, picking up and dropping off your
students.
-Do not park in the Bank of the West parking lot east of the main
school building (next to the little green house). This is a private
lot reserved for bank customers only; your vehicle will be towed.
-Please park only in marked spots on the street or in free city
parking lots downtown. Please do not double park or block driveways.
-If your children self-release, please regularly review safe
practices. We cannot supervise students after they leave FGCS property
but we sometimes hear reports about children crossing against traffic,
stepping into traffic without looking, failing to obey traffic signals
and otherwise behaving unsafely. Please make sure your children are
mature enough to handle the responsibility of leaving school on their
own.
-Bikes, skateboards, long boards and scooters: All these wheeled
devices are welcome forms of transportation at FGCS, but we ask that
you make sure your children follow these rules and precautions:
--Students must walk with their bikes/scooters and carry their
boards on FGCS property - no exceptions. Students who ride on school
property are subject to disciplinary action, including losing the
privilege of bringing their vehicles to school.
--We strongly advise you to make sure your students lock their
bikes, boards and scooters at school. We cannot guarantee the security
of anything left unlocked on school property.
--Be aware that it is a violation of city code to ride any wheeled
device, including bikes, scooters and boards, on sidewalks in downtown
Forest Grove. Violators can be ticketed by local police. Students are
advised to walk their bikes, boards and scooters until they are
outside the downtown area.
