*The FGCS Parent-Teacher Organization will meet at 7 p.m. Thurs.,
April 16 in our high school building. The PTO, which is committed to
the support and development of our school community, will accept
nominations for officer positions (President, Vice President,
Treasurer, Secretary and Volunteer Coordinator) for the 2009-10 school
year. All are encouraged to attend and get involved.
*Roots & Shoots is sponsoring a SOLV-IT event at the Tom McCall
Forest, located at 2055 Pacific Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat.,
April 18. Most FGCS students have worked, played and learned in the
Tom McCall Forest, a small woods stewarded by Kestrels teacher Charlie
Graham for many years. Activities on Saturday will include trash
pick-up, invasive species removal, mulching plants, placing guards
around native plants, trail maintenance, planting and weeding. This is
a great service event for families. Please join Roots & Shoots members
from FGCS and Tom McCall. For more information, contact Charlie at

*The Tree Swallows and the Owls invite you to a Playwrite Performance
Showcase featuring 'The Lorax Musical' and POM (Poem, One Acts and
Monologues) at 6 p.m. on Earth Day (Weds., April 22). The event will
take place in the Grove Room at the school district administrative
offices at 1728 Main Street. Admission is free but you are asked to
bring an item of non-perishable food to contribute to a local food
bank.
'The Lorax,' based on the Dr. Seuss book, is the product of a
months-long collaboration between Level 1 and 3 students inspired by
one student's personal learning goal to produce a play. The series of
poems, one-act plays and monologues are the work of Level 3 students.
Please join us for what promises to be an exciting evening!
*April 24 is a statewide teacher in-service day - no school.
