| Dear FGCS Families and Friends - Earth Day - celebrated tomorrow (Weds., April 22) - is a day intended to inspire awareness and appreciation of the Earth's environment. At FGCS, we strive every day to foster this awareness and appreciation in our students through scholarship, stewardship and citizenship. Here are a couple of special events scheduled for Earth Day this year:
*FGCS presents 'The Lorax' and a program of original student poetry, one-act plays and monologues at 6 p.m. Weds., April 22 in the Grove Room at the school district offices at 1728 Main Street in Forest Grove. The performances are free and open to the public. Please bring an item of non-perishable food to contribute to our ongoing student-led food drive.
'The Lorax' is a musical adaptation of the Dr. Seuss story about a creature who 'speaks for the trees.' The play is written, produced and performed by Level 1 and 3 students led by Rachel Weil and Shannon Perry. The program of poetry, one-acts and monologues features work written and performed by Shannon's Level 3 students. Please join us at the Grove Room for this very special event.
*Tree Donation: In celebration of Earth Day, an FGCS family is giving each of our students a Japanese maple tree to take home. These beautiful small trees will be handed out to students at dismissal time tomorrow (Weds., 4/22). Thanks to Gert and Shelley Jorgensen, owners of the wholesale nursery Landsvale Gardens, for this generous donation to our school community.

TAKING CARE OF OREGON DAYS at FGCS - Join us 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat., May 2 at FGCS for this event, part of a statewide project sponsored by SOLV to commemorate Oregon's 150th birthday. Coordinated by Americorps member Laura Harley, students, parents, teachers, staff and community members will be 'greening and cleaning' our school yard and grounds. Activities will include planting, weeding, trash pick up and more.
