Dear FGCS Families - It's been a great week back after our extended
winter break. Students seem happy to be together again and today
brought a welcome respite from the rain that followed last month's
snow. Classes have been catching up on work delayed during the snow
days and getting ready to dive into new areas of study.
Please take a few minutes to read the following items:
- Wet Weather/Muddy Kids - Despite the outbreak of sunshine today, we
can expect many wet days ahead. Although we have stayed indoors for
some breaks, our preference is to have students outdoors as much as
possible. Please make sure your students come to school in
weather-appropriate clothing - rubber boots and rain coats are a good
choice at this time of year. Please also send an extra set of dry
clothes in case of accidents; this is especially important for the
younger ones.
- Student/Family Directory: The deadline for submitting student
directory information is Mon., Jan. 12. Forms were sent home with
students in early December. If you have current contact information
on file and do not object to have it published in the directory, you
don't need to do anything. If you do NOT want contact information
published or want to limit what is published, please fill out the
directory form and return it no later than Monday to Vickie Jares in
the office. The form is available on the Documents page of the school
web site (www.fgcschool.org) or in the school office.
- Snow Days: The FGCS Board of Directors will make a decision soon
about whether and how to make up the five school days missed because
of the December storms. The Board meets at 7 p.m. Tues., Jan. 13 in
the high school building. As always, you are invited to attend the
meeting. If you'd like to provide feedback by email, please contact
Jon Stagnitti at j.stagnitti@fgcschool.org or Vanessa Gray at
v.gray@fgcschool.org.
- There is no school this month on Mon., Jan. 19 (Martin Luther King
Jr. Holiday), Jan. 23 (grading day) and Jan. 26 (grading day).
- After-School Classes: We are still looking for people to teach
after-school classes at FGCS for six to eight weeks starting this
month. If you are interested, please contact Donna Van Dyke at
503-359-4600 or d.vandyke@fgcschool.org no later than this Fri., Jan.
