We're pleased to announced the formation of the Forest Grove Community
School Parent-Teacher Organization (FGCS-PTO). The PTO's first
meeting will be held 7-8 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 29 at Grendel's Restaurant,
2004 Main Street.* We hope you will come and get involved. Recognizing
how busy families' lives are, every effort will be made to limit
meeting times to one hour, though there will be plenty of
opportunities for involvement outside of meetings.
FGCS-PTO is an independent organization formed to support the growth
and success of our school. The group's mission, stated in its bylaws,
is "to foster a sense of support, pride and enthusiasm; to encourage
parent and public involvement in the Forest Grove Community School and
to bring into closer relation the home and the school, that the
parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of
children and youth." The PTO also intends to "provide service for
school functions, engage in fundraising projects, encourage parent,
teacher, and community involvement, and cooperate with school
administration in providing educational opportunities."
There are three PTO board positions available: treasurer, secretary
and volunteer coordinator. If you have questions or are interested in
serving on the PTO Board, please contact Misty Lewis or Tessa Anderson

*Grendel's is located in the mini-mall complex at the corner of Main
and Pacific that also houses the Cork & Barrel wine shop. Subsequent
monthly PTO meetings will be held at the school building.
