Thank You, Volunteers!

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the 54 students, family members, teachers, staff and community volunteers who participated in our Take Care of Oregon Days event at FGCS on Saturday.

Special thanks to:
-Laura Harley, our Americorps member, who coordinated the event through SOLV;
-Donna Van Dyke, our school secretary and Gardener-in-Chief, who directed the weeding, planting and mulching;
-Teresa Perrin, art teacher, who organized the paint crew;
-Dean Jares, our custodian/handyman, who hauled in all the plants;
-Preston Alexander, our landlord, who donated two beautiful Pacific dogwood trees.
-Steve O'Day, who oversaw a bamboo-fence-building brigade.

Thanks to your efforts, we have a beautiful new garden with trees, ferns, strawberries and native plants near the main entrance, our classrooms are cleaner, the downstairs hallway has a new coat of bright yellow paint and much more. It was wonderful to see people of all ages working together - at times in the pouring rain! - to make a positive difference in our community.
