UPCOMING EVENTS
*CELEBRATIONS OF LEARNING OPEN HOUSE - Join us 5-6:30 p.m. next Wed.,
June 3 for our final open house of the school year. Beverages will be
served; we invite you to bring a treat or snack to share. Here's
some of what's planned:
-Student work will be on display in classrooms. Come see what our
scholars, stewards and citizens have been doing the past few months;
- Our Green Team will have information about sustainable living,
including how to make a waste-free school lunch, worm composting and a
'passport' to the FG Farmers Market, where you can learn about buying
local food on a budget.
- Roots & Shoots Club members will be on hand to share information
about the work they have done this year to help people, animals and
the environment. Stop by and learn more about how you and your
students can be involved in this international organization of
children and youth committed to improving their world.
*FIELD DAY Tues.,June 9: This all-school event will take place 9
a.m.-1 p.m. at Lincoln Park. Students will eat lunch at the park and
should bring their lunches as usual; we're planning a frozen treat to
celebrate afterwards. If you'd like to volunteer to help out at Field
Day, please give your name and contact information to Vickie Jares at
v.jares@fgcschool.org or 503-359-4600.
*BRIDGING CEREMONY Weds., June 10: We will honor students 'bridging'
to the next level at FGCS or moving on to other schools, and celebrate
our very first high school graduate at this special event. Parents
and family members of bridging students are encouraged to attend. The
ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at B Street Permaculture Farm, the
place where we spent our first days as a school in September 2007.
PLEASE NOTE: Everyone, including adults, must have a consent form on
file with Pacific University BEFORE June 10 to be present at B Street.
Forms are available in the office and must be returned no later than
June 9. ALSO NOTE: There is no parking available on site at the farm,
but there is a parking area nortwest of the farm across B Street.
Please do not park in the EF Nursery lot.
