 Dear FGCS Families - Here are school supplies lists for students in Levels 1, 2 and 3 for the 2009-10 school year, along with items required or recommended for all students. A list for Level 4 students will be posted soon. All lists will be archived on the Documents page of the school web site at www.fgcschool.org.
| ALL STUDENTS - Important Items to Wear or Bring EVERY DAY -Comfortable walking shoes: We will be outdoors regularly, rain or shine; water resistant, comfortable shoes will ensure that your child is comfortable during outdoor lessons and recesses. Note: Sturdy strap sandals during warm weather are fine but please refrain from flip-flops or slip-ons). -Water-resistant jacket: Please make sure your child brings a jacket every day, regardless of weather predictions. -Healthy, nutritious lunch and snack (Optional/recommended: reusable bag with reusable containers and cloth napkins to reduce waste). -Reusable water bottle (very important for outings) PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME - This makes it much easier to reunite lost items with their owners! -------- LEVEL 1 (1st, 2nd & 3rd grades)
-48 No. 2 pencils* -6 large pink erasers* -1 box tissues* -2 reams printer paper (recycled optional but appreciated!)* -24 colored pencils* -3 to 5 wide glue sticks* -1 package water color paper* -1 -Your child's favorite non-perishable HEALTHY snack (e.g., dried fruit, whole-grain crackers)** *If you are able to purchase or bring any additional supplies listed above for others, it would be very much appreciated. Classes are also in need of a few more rulers and pairs of scissors to make complete class sets. All school supplies will be shared among our community of learners, so they will not need to be labeled. As materials run low over the course of the school year we will send home requests for additional supplies.
Level 1 - Important Items to Keep in Backpacks - PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME - this makes it much easier to reunite lost items with their owners! -Extra set of clothing (underwear, pants/shorts, shirt, 2 pairs socks) -Optional: additional pair of water-resistant shoes -Sun hat to shade child's cheeks, ears and nose (chin strap is helpful) -Gloves (with flexible fingers for outdoor lessons; clips to attach gloves to jacket are very helpful!) -Warm hat (in cold weather) -Bag for wet clothes ---------------------------------- LEVEL 2 (4th, 5th and 6th grades) -2 packages (100-250 sheets/package) loose leaf paper -2 spiral notebooks (single subject) -Sketch book -5 two-pocket folders (NO prongs) -1 package of 24 colored pencils -24 No. 2 pencils (NOTE: We go through lots of pencils, so may ask you to send in more later the school year) -2 large pink erasers -1 package eraser caps -10 blue or black pens -10 color markers -8 glue sticks ----------------------------------------- Level 3 (7th & 8th grades)
For Student Individual Use 1 backpack 1 lunch bag Reusable water bottle 1 weekly student planner 1 USB Flash Drive 1GB 1 handheld pencil sharpener that holds the shavings 2 notebooks (lined pages) 1 notebook without spiral for science 1 package or notebook with graph paper 1 3-ring binder (2" or 3") 1 package tabbed dividers
For Classroom Use (shared use, but necessary for class work) 4 pens (blue or black) 24 #2 HB pencils or mechanical pencils with lead refills 1 package index cards (ruled) 2 highlighters (yellow 1 sheet of Poster Board Loose-leaf filler paper, college rule (300 sheets)
For Shared Use in the Classrooms (contribute what you can) Ream of printer paper 2 big glue sticks 1 large box facial tissue 1 small bottle of hand sanitizer 1 box children's markers (8 or 10 count box) 1 box colored pencils (12 count box) sharpened
Have available at home to bring to school for Out and Abouts Comfortable leather work gloves or heavy gardening gloves rain coat PE clothes and shoes – loose fitting clothing and tennis shoes
