LAST WEEK FOR ROOTS & SHOOTS Tomorrow is the last meeting of the R&S group at Tom McCall; Wednesday is the last meeting of the FGCS group. Thanks to Charlie Grahm for devoting so much time to leading these groups all year and thanks to the many students who got involved to help people, animals and the environment.
CELEBRATIONS OF LEARNING OPEN HOUSE: Please help us celebrate the end of our second year as a school community. We'll provide the beverages; please bring a snack or treat to share during our open house from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Weds., June 3. Visit classrooms, learn about sustainable living from our Green Team and find out more about our dynamic line up of summer classes.
FUN(D) RUN Our first annual Fun Run is this Thursday morning (June 4) at Lincoln Park. All Level 1 and 2 students are participatiing. If you are able, we encourage you to sponsor or make a donation on behalf of a student runner. Proceeds will benefit Outdoor School. Questions? LATE-BREAKING NEWS ... Thanks to our front-office dynamic duo, Donna and Vickie, we're pleased to announce that we'll offer a barbecue/picnic lunch to all students on Field Day (Tues., June 9). The menu will include a choice of hamburger or veggie burger with fruit, chips, beverage and popsicles. The lunch will be offered to students, staff and volunteers at no cost, but donations to defray costs are welcome! Students are, of course, still free to bring their own lunches if they prefer - we'll have popsicles for all. If you'd like to volunteer to help with Field Day or the barbecue, please contact Vickie at v.jares@fgcschool.org. NOTE: We will not be able to offer second helpings, so if your child may need more to eat, please plan to send something extra.
NO SCHOOL FRIDAY - Teachers and staff will be at work, but it's a day off for students on Fri., June 5. Teachers will be preparing year-end progress reports. The school office will be open.
BRIDGING CEREMONY - CONSENT FORMS NEEDED BY JUNE 5! A reminder that ALL family members attending our Bridging Ceremony at B Street Farm must fill out a consent form for Pacific University, which manages the farm, no later than Fri., June 5. the school office will be open on Friday although it is a no-school day for students. The bridging ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Weds., June 10. Consent forms are available in the office. Please call Vickie at 503-359-4600 or stop by to fill out the form. FYI, we will be taking an all-school photo and class photos at B Street prior to the ceremony.
STUDENT MEDICATIONS We are required by District policy to return all student medications to parents or guardians at the end of the school year. Students may NOT take home any medication, even over the counter. Parents pick up medications themselves or may authorize another adult to do so in writing. Please send a note or email with your student's name, the name of the medications and the name of the person authorized to pick up the medication to Donna Van Dyke at d.vandyke@fgcschool.org. |
