Please join us this Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for our Celebrations
of Learning open house. Bring a plate of cookies or other sweet treats
to share, if you are able. We will serve coffee and hot cocoa - to
help keep the celebration green, please bring your own mug.
We are focused this month on student-led service projects and invite
you to participate. Here are a few things classes have planned to help
families in need in our community:
- Rachel's class is collecting non-perishable food and warm
coats, scarves, gloves and mittens. You'll see donation boxes and a
'warming tree' in the main hallway.
- Charlie's class is adopting a local family through the Family
Resource Center; students will collect donations of food and Christmas
gifts for the family. Visit the classroom to find out how you can
help.
- Veronica's class is also adopting a family through the Family
Resource Center as well as putting together care packages to send to
soldiers stationed overseas. Visit the classroom for more information.
- Shannon's class is collecting non-perishable food for a local
food bank. Donation boxes will be in the classroom. This food drive
will continue into January.
We hope to see you on Wednesday! By the way, our open house coincides
with downtown Forest Grove's First Wednesday festivities, including
the annual lights parade starting at 6:30 p.m. Merchants will be open
late and there are activities for all ages.
OTHER NEWS
The Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for Weds., Dec. 17-Fri.,
Dec. 19. Volunteers are needed to set up on Mon., Dec. 15 and to help
with book sales at the following times: 8:35-8:50 a.m. and 3:05-4:00
p.m. Weds., and Thurs.; 8:35-8:50 a.m. and 1:05-2 p.m. Fri. Please
contact Shannon Carskadon at shannon_carskadon@msn.com to volunteer
your time.
